OK, when I made my post yesterday about being up or down on the month, I didn't really think about the fact that there was 2/3rds of the month left.
I won an SNG today, and finished third in one last night. The most disappointing thing about the third place one is that I feel like I just gave up. Like I didn't want to play anymore with 2k chips three handed, so I went a little crazy. There WAS one guy who kept hitting great cards. He started as the low stack three handed, and doubled through the chipleader with AK vs. KQ when the flop came K high. Then a few hands later, I dumped chips to him when I held KT vs. his AT and the flop came T high.
I am relatively happy, however that I was able to make a comeback and win the SNG this morning. I crippled myself early by overplaying 55 in blind on blind action. I was down to about 500-600 in chips. It is a good thing my opponent shoved river to make it an easy fold for me. Then I doubled through the same guy with KK. I was at about 600, blinds at 50-100. I just raised to 3oo UTG, even though I'm pretty much pot committed. I feel like shoving makes an an easy fold for marginal hands, and I'm going to get it all in on the flop anyways, so I don't care if others come along. BB calls with QT and I held.
That got me back into good shape. The next major hand, I think we're at 60-120. I've got about 3.1k chips, and UTG was the only stack that could effectively bust me, and I think he had 2.8 or something. We're like 5 handed at this point. He limps UTG. I think there's one caller, but he's a pretty low stack, and does not affect how the hand plays out. I check my option in the BB with J4 os.
Now, UTG has flipped up AA like 4 times and commented about how crazy that was. He even asked me (for reasons I do not understand) "hey, actzeng - isn't that crazy?". Anyways, with that in mind, the flop comes JT4, two hearts. I check with the intention of check raising him. Of course, I want him to either have AA or represent AA in this spot, which I think he will do. He bets about half the pot, 240, I think, and the other guy gets out of the way. I min raise him, hoping to induce a push by an overpair. He RR 1.2k and I put him in for the rest, and he flips over KT for nothing but second pair. I held.
That gave me close to 7k 4 handed, and the rest kind of just played itself out. I had about the same stack going into HU, and my opponent had about 4k. I picked up AQ HU at 1-200 and raised to 600. Of course my opponent GOES BERSERK AND MASSIVE RERERERAISES ALL IN WITH A9!!!! And I held. Then I had to get ready for work.
